Both our daughters Annika and Susannah rowed for Arlington-Belmont Crew, where they made lifelong friends. They also learned a sport they can practice, perhaps even into their 80’s, as we saw many older competitors among the athletes at this weekend’s Head of the Charles Regatta (HOCR).

The event, which began in 1965, attracted 11,000 athletes and several hundred thousand spectators from Friday 10/20 through Sunday, 10/22. More than 2,000 volunteers help it all run smoothly, through rain, shine, and wind.

HamilA Hamilton tradition is for Boston area families to host the team at the Head of the Charles. So just as we did when the girls rowed for ABCrew, we did our parent’s part for Hamilton College, where Annika now rows. We hosted dinner Saturday night at our house for the entire Hamilton Crew team and coaches attending the HOCR (photo of bus in front of our house).
